Role Overview 

The Senior Technical Illustrator creates high-quality technical diagrams, infographics, iconography, conceptual graphics, and other visual assets. The role primarily focuses on technical visual communication, with approximately 5% of the workload involving creative illustration. 

This position requires strong design and technical illustration skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, accurate visuals. The Senior Technical Illustrator works independently in a remote environment and applies established brand standards. Training and guidance will be provided for accessibility requirements and relevant content-development tools. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Create technical diagrams, infographics, iconography, conceptual graphics, and other visual assets. 

• Create occasional creative illustrations, representing approximately 5% of the workload. 

• Translate technical and conceptual information into clear, accurate, visually engaging graphics. 

• Collaborate with writers, content strategists, engineers, product teams, and subject-matter experts to ensure visual accuracy and clarity. 

• Apply brand standards, style guidelines, and accessibility requirements across deliverables, with training and team guidance. 

• Prepare and optimize graphics for digital platforms in appropriate formats, including JPG, PNG, SVG, and EPS. 

• Apply sound practices for resolution, aspect ratios, and digital asset optimization. 

• Use Markdown, GitHub, and Cursor in the content-development workflow; training will be provided. 

• Organize and maintain editable source files and production-ready assets according to team conventions. 

• Manage revisions, incorporate feedback, maintain consistency across illustration sets, and deliver work on schedule. 

• Work effectively both independently and as part of a remote, cross-functional team. 

• Adobe Illustrator: Expert-level proficiency, with at least 3 years of professional experience. 

• Adobe Photoshop: Advanced proficiency. 

• Microsoft PowerPoint: Advanced proficiency. 

• A portfolio demonstrating technical diagrams, infographics, and vector-based graphics that clearly communicate complex concepts. 

• Demonstrated ability to translate technical source material into accurate, well-organized visual communications. 

• Strong understanding of digital graphics production for web and presentation platforms, including resolution, aspect ratios, and file formats such as JPG, PNG, SVG, and EPS. 

• Experience applying established brand systems, including color palettes, typography, iconography, illustration styles, and templates. 

• High attention to detail, visual quality, and technical accuracy. 

• Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage priorities, revisions, and deadlines. 

• Strong written and spoken English business communication skills. 

• Ability to work independently and remotely. 

Preferred Skills and Knowledge 

• Experience creating conceptual graphics and creative illustrations. 

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. 

• Familiarity with vector asset libraries, design systems, and reusable illustration components. 

• Experience preparing graphics for documentation, web pages, presentations, social media, and print. 
• Experience creating diagrams or technical visualizations for networking, cloud, security, software architecture, or related technical subject areas. 

Helpful Knowledge 

Training will be provided; prior experience is helpful but not required: 

• Markdown, GitHub, and Cursor. 

• Accessibility-focused visual-design practices. 

• AI tools and prompting techniques for creative or production workflows.
