Job Summary:
As an AWS VDI Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing, and managing Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions using AWS technologies. You will work closely with IT teams or Customer End users to ensure efficient, secure, and scalable VDI deployments that meet organizational requirements. This role demands expertise in AWS cloud services, VDI solutions, and a deep understanding of best practices in cloud architecture and management.
Responsibilities:
- Management and Monitoring:
- Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor the performance and health of VDI environments using AWS CloudWatch, AWS X-Ray, and other monitoring tools.
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VDI performance, connectivity, and user access. Implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance, cluster upgrades, including patch management, updates, and upgrades to ensure the VDI environment remains secure and up-to-date.
- Security and Compliance:
- Security: Implement and manage security controls such as encryption, access management, and network security to protect VDI environments from threats.
- Compliance: Ensure VDI solutions adhere to organizational security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Audits: Perform security audits, Cost Audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
- Support and Collaboration:
- User Support: Provide technical support to end-users and resolve VDI-related issues in a timely manner.
- Collaboration: Work with other IT teams (network, security, applications) to align VDI solutions with broader IT strategies and business objectives.
- Training: Train IT staff and end-users on VDI best practices, usage, and troubleshooting.
- Innovation and Improvement:
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with AWS advancements and emerging VDI technologies to recommend and implement improvements.
- Feedback Integration: Gather feedback from users and stakeholders to enhance the VDI environment and address any emerging needs or issues.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience with AWS services, including hands-on experience with Amazon Workspaces, Amazon AppStream 2.0, and AWS Directory Service.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of VDI technologies and cloud computing principles.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, AWS CLI).
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., AWS CloudFormation, Terraform).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including VPC, subnets, and security groups.
- Familiarity with security best practices and compliance requirements in a cloud environment.
- Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional Certifications: Certifications in related fields such as Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with Other Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with other cloud services and platforms.
- Containerization: Experience with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and their integration with VDI solutions.
