The Senior Content Strategist & Taxonomy Specialist will play a critical role in shaping the digital presence by developing and implementing effective content strategies while expanding, maintaining, and integrating taxonomies and classification systems to support AI-driven knowledge discovery. This position combines strategic content leadership with specialized taxonomy expertise to ensure seamless user journeys and optimize overall experience across various platforms.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams—including UX designers, developers, marketing professionals, and engineering teams—to operationalize content production throughout the product lifecycle. As part of the Context Design Team, you'll work alongside taxonomists, content strategists, and UX writers, while focusing on operational excellence within PoolParty Semantic Suite and contributing to the structured knowledge frameworks that support intelligent search and AI retrieval systems.

Responsibilities:

Content Strategy & User Experience:

  • Partner with content creators and subject matter experts to ensure accurate and consistent labeling, tagging, and categorization of content.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across teams to conduct comprehensive content inventories, assessing existing content for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with user needs and business objectives.
  • Lead the initiative to implement AI-driven translation of content, coordinating with external contractors to review, refine, and ensure linguistic and contextual accuracy across multiple languages.
  • Design, test, and optimize AI prompts for content generation, classification, and enhancement systems, ensuring outputs align with brand voice and user needs.
  • Mentor and train author teams on content best practices, style guidelines, and emerging AI-assisted content creation tools and workflows.
  • Map, document, and optimize content workflows across teams, identifying bottlenecks and opportunities for process improvement and automation.
  • Strategize against the full life cycle of systems and applications by working collaboratively with other leaders across customer experience, product management and software engineering teams.
  • Contribute to content and design systems, UX writing, taxonomy strategy, wireframes and prototypes for feedback and testing.
  • Educate partners like product management and engineering on design and content practices.

Taxonomy & Knowledge Organization:

  • Design and build IT taxonomies directly within the PoolParty environment to support AI-driven knowledge discovery and recommender facet search.
  • Conduct regular auditing, quality control, and lifecycle management of taxonomy models to ensure compliance with metadata governance standards and enterprise interoperability requirements.
  • Track, prioritize, and execute change requests for taxonomy and metadata updates to support knowledge management workflows.
  • Prepare and validate taxonomy exports from PoolParty for integration with other systems, ensuring consistency between classification models and operational knowledge systems.
  • Collaborate with AI engineering teams to map taxonomy models for use in AI-driven search and retrieval systems, improving AI results through structured knowledge organization.

Onboarding and Tool Proficiency Development:

  • Complete structured self-training for the PoolParty Semantic Suite, focusing on taxonomy creation and knowledge organization.
  • Shadow Knowledge Management team members and participate in collaborative tasks to develop an operational understanding of the evolving knowledge management system architecture.
  • Familiarize yourself with the Extreme Networks product catalog and solutions portfolio, and associated metadata structures to ensure accurate modeling and classification alignment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication, English, Marketing, Journalism, Information Science, Library Science, or Computer Science. Master's degree preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience in digital content strategy, with a strong focus on user experience (UI writing and micro-copy). Enterprise/SaaS product experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with PoolParty or other taxonomy management tools (e.g., Mondeca, Semaphore).
  • Proven track record of successfully executing content strategies across multiple digital platforms and channels, with measurable results.
  • Strong knowledge of metadata standards, controlled vocabularies, and information organization principles.
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, information architecture, and findability best practices.
  • Proficient in using information architecture and taxonomy tools, as well as wireframing and prototyping tools.

Preferred:

  • Experience with taxonomy development and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in leveraging user research and analytics tools to inform content decisions.
  • Familiarity with IT concepts, data lakes, content management platforms, and AI-driven classification systems.
  • Experience with AI prompt engineering, optimization, and content automation workflows.
  • Proven track record of successfully designing and implementing meaningful, helpful content in complex digital products, with measurable improvements in user experience.
  • Experience mentoring content teams and developing training programs for content creators.
